Subnautica 2 EA2 Dev Vlog Begins: What Is Confirmed

Unknown Worlds opened its Voyage to Early Access 2 developer-vlog series on October 15, 2026. Creative Director Anthony Gallegos introduces the series and sets up coverage of the next major content update. The announcement gives players a new place to follow development, but it does not announce an EA2 release date.

What did the October 15 announcement confirm?

The new series is called Voyage to Early Access 2. Unknown Worlds describes the opening episode as an introduction to the developers players will hear from in future episodes, with sneak peeks and context for the next big content update. Anthony Gallegos returns as Creative Director to introduce that coverage.

The short announcement does not provide a release date, a final feature list, or instructions to download EA2. Treat it as the start of the developer's preview series when deciding whether there is new playable content to return for.

How does EA2 fit the Early Access roadmap?

The May 15 official roadmap separates focused improvements and hotfixes from larger expansions. It describes the next large content drop as expanding the world, biomes, creatures, resources, tools and vehicles, alongside the next story chapter.

That roadmap gives the broad direction. The October introduction begins the preview series for the next big update, without turning every earlier roadmap item into a dated or final EA2 feature. The developer also says roadmap plans can change. Look for a dedicated release announcement before scheduling a new playthrough around additional regions or story.

Which update can you play now?

As of October 18, the latest released patch listed in the official news feed is Buddy System Hotfix 2, dated October 6. Its changes concern Scanner Station accuracy, base power after returning to an area, Tadpole docking and boundary recovery, co-op voice detection and other fixes.

Adaptive Measures and Buddy System remain the released content milestones covered in our update tracker. If you are returning for co-op, those updates include expanded Biomod progression, proximity voice chat, revives and direct trading. The EA2 vlog itself does not install new content into an existing world.

Should you switch to Experimental to follow EA2?

The announcement does not require it. You can watch the official episodes while continuing a normal Early Access save. Experimental is a separate, optional preview branch; its saves are separate and incompatible with the default branch, and a co-op group must use the same branch.

Use the Experimental platform comparison before changing an installation. The opening EA2 post does not announce that the full expansion is available on Experimental, nor does it specify a save-conversion policy for the future EA2 release.
