Starter electronics material

Copper Guide

Copper is the starter material that connects Basic Battery, Copper Wire, Scanner progress, Welcome Center power, and the Habitat Builder route. The useful question is not only where it appears, but what to reserve it for first.

Spend order: reserve Copper for Basic Battery and Copper Wire before making spare parts. Exact source nodes and counts should stay current-build checks until we recheck the starter routes directly.

First-session spend rule

Copper is easy to misread as a spare-battery material. The safer first-session rule is stricter: cover the first Basic Battery, keep enough Copper for Copper Wire, and only then make extra power cells or experimental electronics.

That rule matters because the Welcome Center, Scanner path, and Habitat Builder path are connected. If one player in a co-op group burns Copper on backups while another is trying to unlock base building, the whole crew can lose time swimming the same starter loop again.

Starter chain plan

Step 1

Treat Copper as starter power stock

Copper is the raw material behind Basic Battery and Copper Wire planning. Gather it before long Welcome Center or base-building trips, but do not turn early source leads into fixed node tables.

Step 2

Pair it with Acidic Raion Pouch

Public guide coverage supports Basic Battery as a Copper plus Acidic Raion Pouch craft. That makes Copper part of the Scanner and Welcome Center route, not just generic storage filler.

Step 3

Save enough for Copper Wire

The Habitat Builder route also asks for Copper Wire. If you spend every Copper piece on spare batteries, base-building progress can stall.

Step 4

Recheck exact sources

Use shallow starter loops and public guide leads as scouting routes, then record current-build source names before publishing exact outcrop, deposit, or yield claims.

Use Priority Why it matters
Basic Battery High priority Public guide sources connect Copper to Basic Battery, Scanner progress, and the Welcome Center power slot.
Copper Wire High priority PC Gamer lists Copper Wire in the Habitat Builder recipe chain and describes Copper Wire as a Resources-section craft.
Starter electronics Planning bucket Copper should sit beside Silver, Basic Battery, and tool planning until station text is fully verified.
Base-building prep Before permanent builds Do not swim to the Welcome Center and first base route without Copper reserved for battery and wire needs.

Stable use cases vs. build checks

Multi-source public guide

Ingredient family

Copper is supported through Basic Battery, Scanner, Welcome Center, and Habitat Builder public-guide chains.

Needs current-build check

Exact counts

This page avoids final quantities except where quoted source pages already support recipe context. Use station text first.

Route lead

Location precision

Starter Copper routes are useful, but exact node tables and farm loops need in-game current-build checks.

Route lead

Patch sensitivity

Early Access resource density, outcrop labels, and station costs can change after hotfixes.

Copper FAQ

What is Copper used for in Subnautica 2?

Use Copper for Basic Battery and Copper Wire planning first. Those two links feed Scanner, Welcome Center, Habitat Builder, and early electronics progression.

Should I spend Copper on spare batteries right away?

No. Cover Scanner, Welcome Center, and Habitat Builder needs first, then make spare batteries after the base-building route is no longer blocked.

Is there a final Copper farm route yet?

Not on this page. The current source notes supports starter-chain use and scouting leads, but exact node locations, outcrop labels, and yields still need current-build check.
