Rubber and Grease: What to Make from Lucifer Rotsac

Updated

2 Lucifer Rotsacs make 1 Rubber; 1 Lucifer Rotsac makes 1 Grease. If you are preparing Basic Fins and a Wakemaker together, collect 5 Rotsacs: four for the Fins' Rubber and one for the Wakemaker's Grease.

Gather the shared ingredient

Look for Lucifer Rotsac southwest of the Lifepod, around the rocky archway with Cradle Shootroots. Pair this plant trip with Fibrous Pulp collection if Basic Fins are your immediate objective. Return to the Fabricator to turn the plants into usable components.

Keep the ingredient unprocessed until you know which craft you need. Rubber and Grease are different outputs: a stockpile of one does not complete a recipe that asks for the other.

Costs for early movement equipment

CraftDirect ingredientsRotsac budget
Rubber2 Lucifer Rotsacs2 per Rubber
Grease1 Lucifer Rotsac1 per Grease
Basic Fins2 Rubber + 2 Fiber4, plus the Fiber materials
Wakemaker1 Silver + 1 Wiring Kit + 1 Grease + 1 Basic Battery1, plus its other components

The five-Rotsac target covers only this pair of equipment crafts. It does not include extra Rubber or Grease for later building projects. Check the crafting planner when adding more equipment, and include the Wiring Kit's ingredients rather than treating a finished kit as a raw pickup.

Which should you make first?

  1. For Basic Fins, reserve four Rotsacs. Make 2 Rubber and 2 Fiber, then craft the Fins. The first-hour walkthrough shows the plant collection and Fabricator sequence.
  2. For a nearly complete Wakemaker, reserve one Rotsac. If Silver, a Wiring Kit and a battery are ready, one Grease craft finishes the missing material. Check the Wakemaker unlock before processing a large batch.
  3. For both, split the haul before crafting. Set aside one Rotsac for Grease and process the other four into Rubber. This prevents a final all-Rubber craft from sending you back for one more plant.
  4. Keep a small raw reserve. Additional Rotsacs preserve your choice between the two outputs when the next blueprint becomes available.

Processor alternative: use Halfmoons for Grease

The Processor can make 1 Grease from 2 Halfmoons. This is useful when fish are convenient to collect and you want to reserve Rotsacs for Rubber. Bring the fish back as ingredients: cooking them changes them into a different item.

That alternative competes with food supplies. If you are preparing for a long route, allocate meals first and use surplus Halfmoons for processing. It does not change the Rubber recipe, so a Fins project still needs its four-Rotsac budget.
