Where to find Lead
Find early Lead in the ravine northeast of the Lifepod. Follow the blue current down to the colony platform and search the sand along the ravine for loose pieces. Save your first 2 Lead for the Sonic Resonator.

Reach the northeast Lead ravine
The early collection area is roughly 280 meters northeast of the Lifepod. Its most useful landmarks are a moving blue current, a ravine, and colony construction with a nearby Tadpole fragment. The route leads to the ground around that construction; you do not need to finish an interior wreck expedition to collect the first pieces.
- Leave with a full oxygen supply. Free inventory space and bring your movement equipment. Your first objective is two loose pieces, so there is no need to wait until you own a mining tool.
- Travel northeast, around a 75° bearing. Watch below for a blue natural current rather than navigating only by the distance counter.
- Follow the current into the ravine. Look for a colony platform on the left and the Tadpole fragment nearby. Note the way you entered before descending farther.
- Search north or east along the sand. Large Lead blocks mark the area, but loose fragments farther along either branch let you collect material without the Resonator.
- Return with at least two Lead. Make the Resonator, then revisit the larger deposits when you want a bigger stockpile.
If the first block asks for a tool, keep searching the sandy edges. Spending the entire dive trying to harvest that block will not solve the first-tool material requirement. Small breakable blocks and loose pickups are separate from the large deposits.
What to save Lead for
The Sonic Resonator needs 2 Lead, 2 Titanium Ingots, 1 Wiring Kit and 1 Basic Battery. Keep those two Lead in reserve until the tool is built; it expands the deposits you can harvest and is part of the route toward Heat Tolerance.
The Processor turns 2 Lead into 1 Germanium. If you want the Resonator and one Lead-based Germanium craft, collect 4 Lead in total. Germanium can also be made from Silver, so compare the spare metals in storage before consuming your last Lead.
| Craft | Station | Materials per craft |
|---|---|---|
| Sonic Resonator | Fabricator | 1 Basic Battery + 2 Titanium Ingot + 2 Lead + 1 Wiring Kit |
| Germanium (from Lead) | Processor | 2 Lead |
| Germanium (from Silver) | Processor | 2 Silver |
For a combined shopping list, add your planned crafts to the crafting planner. Each row above is one craft; it does not include materials already spent making its components.
When to stop searching the starting ravine
For the opening tool, a short pickup run is enough. Once the Resonator is built, a return trip can focus on mining the larger blocks you passed. This separates an urgent crafting bottleneck from a longer stockpiling trip and makes it easier to set a sensible turnaround point.
Later, the area around the Alien Ruins and Research Station offers another Lead collection destination. Use that area when it is already part of your progression route instead of repeatedly crossing the starting region for every Germanium craft.
Save a little battery power for mining, but prioritize oxygen over the size of the haul. The natural current is a landmark and a travel aid; it does not make every side branch a safe extended dive. Return along a route you can recognize and unload the metal before taking on another objective.
