Where to find Sulfur
Look for early Sulfur on and around the rock pillar southeast of the Lifepod, past the Welcome Center near the Coral Crabs. Small loose pieces can be picked up by hand, so you can obtain the first Sulfur without entering the volcanic region.

The shallow southeast Sulfur route
The collection landmark is roughly 200 meters from the Lifepod on a southeast bearing of about 120°, at around 25 meters deep. Search for a rock pillar in the open seabed near the Coral Crabs. A science platform at its base is also associated with a Wakemaker fragment.
- Travel southeast past the Welcome Center. Keep the return direction in mind and look for the open seabed and pillar rather than a cave entrance.
- Inspect the pillar and nearby sand. Sulfur is a yellowish crystal. Check the pickup name before assuming a yellow mineral is Gold.
- Take the loose pieces first. These are enough to start working toward the Repair Tool. Use a charged Sonic Resonator for the larger deposits if you brought one.
- Keep the search on the cooler side. Going farther northeast leads toward volcanic water. If you have not unlocked Heat Tolerance, turn back instead of following the ore into the hot region.
- Return once the tool budget is covered. One Sulfur completes that part of the Repair Tool recipe; collecting every large block is optional.
This route is useful because it separates the first Sulfur from the later Gold expedition. You can gather a loose piece near the edge and leave. Bulk mining benefits from the Resonator, while sustained exploration of the volcanic region needs Heat Tolerance as well.
What to save Sulfur for
Save the first 1 Sulfur for a Repair Tool. Its other ingredients are 1 Titanium Ingot, 1 Wiring Kit and 1 Basic Battery. The Repair Tool recipe is the place to check the full component chain before returning to craft.
Both an Advanced Wiring Kit and the Sulfur-and-Gold version of Strong Acid consume 1 Sulfur each. A Repair Tool, one Advanced Wiring Kit and one of those acid crafts therefore require 3 Sulfur in total. If Gold is scarce, Strong Acid made from Necrolei Cysts leaves both metals available for electronics.
| Craft | Station | Materials per craft |
|---|---|---|
| Repair Tool | Fabricator | 1 Titanium Ingot + 1 Wiring Kit + 1 Basic Battery + 1 Sulfur |
| Advanced Wiring Kit | Fabricator | 1 Wiring Kit + 1 Gold + 1 Sulfur |
| Strong Acid (from Sulfur, Gold) | Processor | 1 Sulfur + 1 Gold |
For a combined shopping list, add your planned crafts to the crafting planner. Each row above is one craft; it does not include materials already spent making its components.
Combine nearby jobs without extending the dive too far
The Chap cave Salt route lies in the same broad southeast area. It can be a useful second stop when your oxygen is comfortable and you recognize the cave entrance. Finish the exposed Sulfur pickup first, then reassess before entering a confined space.
If a deposit asks for an unknown tool, look for loose fragments or return with the Resonator. Do not mistake that message for a heat requirement: the tool breaks the deposit, while Heat Tolerance changes where you can safely stay.
For larger projects, pair Sulfur with a prepared Gold run after the adaptation is unlocked. Match your haul to the number of wiring kits or acid crafts you need, and keep some inventory space free before arriving at the mining area.
